Out of Africa
I feel a bit like Karen Blixen, opening the curtains and saying “Another glorious day in Africa.” Obvs China in our case, but wow! We have been served another glorious day of driving, scenery, sunshine and we’ve ended up in a nice hotel in Aba. What more could we ask for?
All four cars pretty much stuck together. We had photoshoots, we met a coach load of Buddhist monks, we got stuck in roadworks (David enlightened the locals about the rules of queuing), we drove into a national park, Chris and Arthur visited a horse fair taking place in the distance and were firmly turned back by the rozzers who did not want any promotion of certain cultural activities.
In the national park we came across the mighty Yellow River, the mother river (not sure how or why it got that accolade).
During one of the photoshoots, Tobs (the elected cameraman) showed consummate skill in the use of the iPhone camera by forgetting to press the little red button and then on attempting to make amends on another photoshoot later in the day, having lined up all the cars and declaring this was his redemption, forgot his camera. But he remains an absolute brick and we love him dearly.
