A reinforced team and renewed intent

Following the testing time at the bridge at Casma it came as a very pleasant experience to enjoy clean sheets, air con and decent food at Costa del Sol Hotel Trujillo. First thing the team met over breakfast with our new team members Bumble (obviously she had met Nigel the night before) and Didier both of whom had demonstarted outstanding resilience in remaining in Trujillo to await our arrval. That might have had something to do with being unable to get flights out until Thursday but we will let that one slide!

Rather than spend two nights at the Costa del Sol recovering from our tortuous night drive, we decided on washing and hair cuts, lunch and then a 250km drive to Chiclayo.

Chris and I had a excellent haircut, not quite Trumpers of Jermyn Street, more introduction to the Marine Corp using No 1 sheers. Conseluo wasn't letting us leave that barbers shop until she'd removed every last folical.

Then we were off on a somewhat uninspiring drive along the Pan-American Highway. Almost the only excitement was Didier's first meetiung with a Peruvian traffic policeman who stopped us for overtaking on a double yellow line. Unfortunately we were guilty, alongside everyone else because you could see about a mile up the road at the time. Obviously a popular spot for the police to catch gringos. This time he wanted $100 and rather than waste time, which after Didiers introduction to driving a Lagonda was running short we paid up and moved on.

As we rejoined the highway Nigel and Bumble came back on the other side to see that we were okay. That is what I call a team all working together for the common good.

We arrived in Trujillo as the sun was going down ti a comfortable hoitel, good dinner and off in the morning. It will be our last full day in poeru tomorrow as we enter Ecuador.
